I've done some crow hunting in the past, not so much anymore because I'm not brave enough to eat one.

My favorite setup is to go out in the pre dawn to listen for the crows calling to eachother. Find a high spot where you can hear good just like your turkey hunting. If you can hear crows, you can call them in. I setup by just behind a bushy tree usually a pine that has some good cover around it.And put my electric call about 10 yards in front of the tree. I use the cassete tape call from walmart I think it is a crow distress call. Makes the other crows come in ready to fight. Start the call up and sit tight. When the crows come in you will hear them comming it'll only take them a minute or two to get to you. Make sure you get the first one that comes in, he's the century crow which means he is the leader of the other crows. Once you get him, you can keep calling the other ones back because they don't know what they are doing without the century. They will get call-shy after a while so you need to get up and try somewhere else. You can also scout out where crows like to be, like pecan trees and hickory trees that are dropping. Then set up a blind and call with a hand held call. Use a "come-here" call which is three caws in a row. Or a feeding call. You can call them in all day like this because thats the place the crows like to be. Kind of like duck hunting, you can use decoys. Sometimes if you are calling, a crow will come in about a hundred yards away and sit and watch. Don't move or he'll be gone. He'll come in after a few minutes unless he thinks something isn't right. One trick I use is to put an owl decoy on top of a crow decoy when you use a distress call. Tape toilet paper to where the wings of the owl would be so when the wind blows it looks like he's flapping his wings. Movement is the key with all decoys. I usually hunt alabama and middle georgia.
