bating coyotes

Can you bait coyotes? and how

Here it is legal to bait, I am not sure if they are from where you are from. I would try to get a few deer hides no one wants and set them out in an opening that you can watch. Also if there is a butcher near by ask if you can have some bones or what ever you can to set out for them. Be patient and watch carefully, as they will try and sneak in. Also it maybe a few days before you see anything so be patient. Good Luck and shoot one for us to see here.

A little white puddle is hard to beat ,just need to tie him up in the middle of a field with a small shock collar on him ,and get up in a stand where you can see him clearly.About every 15 minutes just give him a little zap just enough to get him squallin and get ready if its any around they will be coming in..I fell asleep on my last hunt and lost my puddle i woke up and the yotes had him buti got a another one spotted.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,ha ha man im just bullsh..,,i bet yall were freakin out on me ..seriously the best way to bait coyotes is when you see road kill deer pick em up and take to your spot, try to put it in the open and tie it to a tree or fence post with bailing wire so it want get dragged off and hunt over it ,i have killed coyotes and bobcats doing this and its legal most places.

Make sure it is legal to pick up roadkill. In some areas, local indian tribes have the rights to roadkill. In other areas, local zoos/wildlife parks have the rights to roadkill.

Better check it out very carefully before you do it.

Well in the great southern state of tn who ever wants it and gets it out of the da** road can have it,so if you see something in the road dead your doing everyone a favor by hauling it off and getting rid of it ,i seriously doubt its very many judges that will prosecute over some BS LIKE THAT.

Just in case you didn't know, the world is bigger than your great southern state of tn. And yes, anyone contemplating doing this, better check the law because regardless of what you say, if it is against the law in his/her area, law enforcement will very likely take action.

The little white poodle would be much more affective anyway.:D

That hurt me real bad.

Back to the original question. Check the local laws.

Regarding picking up road kill. Check the local laws.

dead livestock is the best preferably a freshly dead cow or horse. yotes dont seem to think anything of it but ive used chicken or calf liver too but the yotes seem to be a bit weary I suppose because they smell dead flesh but cant see it till they are right on it. ive heard of some people using canned catfood and sardines. I personally think coyotes respond better to the smell of blood.

It's illegal for us to use live bait... IE- chickens, cats ect. When using carcasses to bait coyotes into an area I do not sit right on top of them... I back off a couple hundred yards and howl as if I'm a coyote that found the stash. This aggrevates the resident pack that had already claimed the bait, they'll come check you out. It's much easier to kill coyotes this way than to sit over the bait and wait for them... they're leary approaching a bait stand like that-especially if it's out in the open.

I agree some what with this satement, how ever we do not have much of a problem with that. Here coyotes come up to our ice shacks at night and look for left over bait or any type of food to find.

We hunt them at night in the winter months with a shotgun and bait on ice. We couldn't possibly find a shotgun that shoots a couple of hundred yards. So we have to be carefull and set up much closer then you do. Night hunting here is allowed by permit during the winter months.
