GWH- Yes, I have made wire live traps, but you need the right equipment. Box traps and snares are easy to make. But I would recommend buying fackory made steel and coni. traps.

RE: HOMEMADE TRAPS?

Build a sturdy rectangle box however big your animal is. You can use chicken wire or chainlink around a frame. Have one end open and build rails so a board can slide down in the rails on the open end. now put the board into the rails about 2-3 inches and then lean it out. drill a hole in the very top of the board. put a string through it and run it to the back of the box and down through a hole in the top of the other end of the box. then thread the string to a 2 ft piece of plywood that lays on the bottom of the trap. adjust the length of the string so that the stringed end of the plywood on the floor is lifted up 6-8 inches or so while the railed board is leaning out with just enough weight to hold it. then nail a piece of bait to the back wall of the trap. When the animal walks into the trap to get the food he will walk up the plank causing it to fall flat to the floor pulling the trap door vertical and it will slide down the rails sealing the animal inside. This will work for just about any animal that will go into the trap. Just build it as big as you need. Longer is better. It is a bit bulky but a gem.
