Calling all 'Yotes
 

Ok - So I want to call in and bow hunt coyotes.

Suggestions please. We've got so many that I rarely go more than 2 days without hearing them (Hollywood has yet to reproduce a more evil/scarey sound).

I live in northern Illinois. Our season is year-round.

Suggestions please.

Justin, I'd suggest calling them in and use either a shotgun loaded with heavy buck shot, or use a rifle to begin with. They can be called in and gotten with a bow, I've done it, but it is very difficult. I'd suggest getting a few with gun and then, once you think you've got the hang of it, you can try with your bow. You can start by buying a hand call or two, or, skip the learning to call process, and buy an electronic caller with a cottontail distress tape to start with, find some open area with cover around it that they may like to hide in, set up and blend in with your surroundings as best you can, face net, camo cloths and gun and clothing, keep the wind in your favor, don't let them see you walk in to the area, don't let them see your vehicle while it is parked, take a buddy, have him/her set up a little ways downwind of you, and start calling for at least 15 minutes, without any more movement than your head to look for them approaching. Have your gun at the ready, I like to use shoting sticks, have patience, and, most important, have fun!! Any questions, let us know!! Good Luck! howler said it all,bow huntin song dogs is no easy task.learn,learn,learn and then when you get bored(if thats at all possible)with shotguns and rifles go for the ultimate challange amd bow stick a coyote.
