jump traps

I bought 2 doz #1 jumps at a garage sale for next to nothing to add on to my muskrat line. They are good traps but with only one spring they are a pain to set by hand standing in water. Is there any tricks to setting them.

They will get easier as your hands get stronger. I just depress the spring with my thumb and then hold the jaws open with the other hand placed across the jaws around the frame. Then you can flip the dog and pan with the other hand. Those are my favorite rat traps.
