RE: 22 Hornet 17 rem
I have both a .17 remington and a 22 hornet. The .17 is a Remington LVSF $579.00and the hornet is a Browning Micro Hunter $514.00.I have a FFL so costwillvary. I would not consider either acheap gun. If I had it to do it again I think I would have bought the .17 in a CZ.When I bought the Remington I waswarnednotto get a CZ.I had several peopleon different boards tell me that these things were junk. Slowly over the lastyearmore and more people have been raving over them. I don't have one so, I will not get into whether it is a good gun or not. They aremuch cheaper and the ones I have seenhave nice wood on them. The .17 is a fickle beast that IMO requires reloading to get it to shoot well. The hornet was a good purchase because it shoots awesome out of the box with 35gr VMAX bullets. The gun shoots much better than I do.

RE: 22 Hornet 17 rem
If you are looking for inexpensive, I would suggest a NEF handi rifle. I own 2 of them(.223 and 22 hornet) Yes, it is a single shot, but they are shooters, and don't cost a lot of money.
I don't personally have any expirience with the 17 rem, but it does have a faithfull following of varmint hunters, however i don't think the handi is offered in this caliber right now. my 22 hornet shoots pretty good with winchester 45gr. soft points( alot better than Hornady 35gr. v-max) and open sights. I don't reload and have found the hornet to be easier to find while the 17 is a bit scarce. |
