ORIGINAL: SalCucco

I too was thinking of getting a savage 16Fss this spring for small game likes chucks and coyotes etc...however i was at a local gun store this weekend and the .204 ammo was $15 for 20 rounds when the .223 was $5 for 20

Now i don't reload but was thinking into getting into reloading but i honestly don't shoot that much to justify the $400 for the reloading equip ment to where i can save money on the .204 when i can get about 80 boxes of .223 ammo for that same price before the .204 would start saving me money.

I love the writeups on the 204 and how flat it shoots but those couple extra inches past 300 yds seem awful expensive to me so i think that i gonna get a .223 instead. just my 2cents
Now that was a sound opinion. Most people bash what they don't know or understand fully. Me, I wouldn't trade my .204 for a .223, 220 Swift, or a 22-250, even if the ammo is cheaper in the long run. I reload, and my costs are hugely decreased, since retail ammo is insane. And since the .204 resists wind drift better than a 22-250, lower recoil, and longer barrel life compared to a .223.

I'm seriously considering geting an AR varmint type rifle in either 223 Rem or 204 Ruger. There are several mfg's making 204 uppers and a couple offering complete rifles.

Here is a pics of a Tromix Tackhammer in 204 Ruger - 1 in 12 Twist:

.204 has great knockdown power, i would definitely use the .204. Sharpest fastest and hard hitter. It hits before you hear it hit. 4225fps behind each shot, can't miss it
