otter trapping

I have an otter permit this year and have been trying to get one with no luck. A small river runs behind my house and the past few winters and this summer there was pretty good sign. this year there are otter tracks but not too many. I also can find no definite trails or slides. The river doesnt freeze and we have about 9" of snow now. Do any of you know another set to try besides on a trail? otter season ends march 5 or 6 so maybe I will have better luck then.

RE: otter trapping

I would try some blind bank sets. Try using some fish for scent to bring them in. But when I use fish I always caught coon. Look for toilet sets. I am guessing that the little amount of otter sign is from otters just passing through the area. Good Luck!! hope this helps.
