Bushmaster AR

I have a short barreled ar-15 and was going tactical butwould like to start varmint hunting. Would this work ok for now? If so, what mods are necessary besides a good scope?

I HAVE A AR 20" BULL BARREL WITH 1X8 twist. if you are shooting 1 inch groups at 100 yards your good to go. if not maybe play around with ammo to see what works best. get a predator call, preferably a rabbit in distress call but any will do. i called in a fox with a fawn distress this bow season. once he got 10 feet from me he stopped, watched and turned to go away. i puckered my lips and gave a little soft squeak and he jumped right back and gave me the "I'm going to eat u look". this will be my first year predator hunting and i cant wait. mods for your gun, well not to much. i got a bi pod stand that attachés to my sling stud on my gun. it's the type that sits high so u can sit and shoot rather than lay down. if i were u I'd try to make a homemade decoy. some guys tie a feather or puffball to a stick and let it move with the breeze. others I've heard by toy bunnie rabbits for decoys. go to wal-mart and buy on of those predator videos and watch those guy, u'll learn a lot about habitat, food, how they circle to smell u, what a yote thats been called before will most likely do and one thats a juvenile will sometimes just fly into the call. remember to zero your scope in at the highest power too. good luck bro, write back and let me know how your seasons going.

RE: Bushmaster AR

Hello. I have both 20 inch and 16 inch barrel Ar's and I like the 16 inch one best for my calling rifle. It is lighter and has a collapsabel stock so that I canshorten it according to the amount of clothes I am wearing. It has a red dot scope on it and flip up sights. It is for use when on patrol but makes a great varmint rifle on the side. My 20 inch barrel AR has a 4.5x14 scope and I like that for much smaller targets. It does not have the colllapsable stock so to me, it isn't as user friendly! --Tim
