Coyote Calls

I am new to coyote hunting, and i was wondering if i should go with a electronic call or try and learn how to call with a old fashion call (not electronic calls), i also am planning on shooting them with a 308 what type of bullet should i use, and what grain. I am somewhat partial to the hornady v-max bullet.

also i use a marlin 17hmr with bull barrell $189 and bushnell 4-12 $65-$70
i know people who killed yote and foxes with them and they leave no exit wound great for keeping the pelt
ive been told to use a blind and to smoke all my gear before going to eliminate sent keep in scent lock bags till set up and where smoked gloves dont touch anything

Look into a foxpro digital caller. It has a long range remote control, you can work the volume and switch between sounds easily. It is ideal for putting distance between you and the sounds.

I've tried the mouth calls - scared everything, including my dogs, into the next county. Not the calls' fault, tho. Actually, either one or both together will work. Take a look at the Predator Master's site at www.predatormastersforums.com for some discussions on these topics by some experienced coyote hunters. Also, some of the videos on CD are helpful - Byron South's are my personal favorites.

RE: Coyote Calls

ive been coyote hunting for a couple years and ive had an electronic caller(which broke on me)and mouth calls, and from my experience ive called alot more coyotes in with a mouth call than w/ my electronic call. if your a begginer than an electronic call might be better if your just wantin to jump into killin yotes, which i thought was gonna happen, i guess thats what you should do, but if i was you i would start with mouth calls and if you cant get the hang of them then go with a electronic caller, but keep in mind electronic callers arent cheap and sometimes dont work as well as hoped, speaking from my own experiances

I like the tapes you can play... or a mouth call. Everything else is too much money.

308 is a tad big, might do a lot of pelt damage. I prefer the 243, 22-250. 223, or 17 cal.
