Bobcat predator call questions
This year I got a bobcat permit for northern Wisconsin. The early part of the season, I am planning on calling in a bobcat with a predator call. Then when and if we get snow, I will go with a group of hunters that use hound dogs. But for now I am looking for suggestions on type of predator call to use and any tactics to use to call in a bobcat. Also, if I should use a small rifle or a shotgun and what size and weight of bullet or what size of BB shot. I don't think Wisconsin allows buckshot. Any suggestions will be helpful.

RE: Bobcat predator call questions
It seems thatalot of bobcats are called in with the higher pitched calls, such as the Verminator Tweety or critcall peewee. With that said, they can be called with about any cottontail distress call. As far as which rifle, a 22 mag. does just fine on them without doing too much pelt damage. A shotgun with 4 buck would do well also, out to 50 yards or so.

RE: Bobcat predator call questions
yeah you really do need a higher pitch call and make sure to call longer than you would a coyote. You may have to sit and call for 45 minutes but if theres cats you will call them in

RE: Bobcat predator call questions
A Cass creek call with bird sound sounds on it would not be such a bad investment at about $25 :) I forget which model....since the somewhat lame "clip" on the call allowed it to fall off my vest and be lost. In fact, I have lost three of my cass creek calls like that, so I wont be getting any more.
