Fur Damage

How much does something like a .30-06 damage a coyote fur. I heard from somebody that it isn't very much cause the bullet doesn't open a lot. Anybody shot one and found out.

Are they bad for some reason? Do they put a disadvantage on dogs not using the dft's? I am just getting in to hunting hounds so I don't really know anything, thanks for the explanation.

Shotgun all the way, I can use my 12 Gauge for anything squirells quail deer elk. Any thnig that walks or flys. Shotgun is just more versitile.
