RE: MN Success

Good job! I had the third season in Mn, and the toms didn't seem too receptive either. I got a hot tom to come in, but calling for my dad we couldn't get a tom to come in. Again good job!

RE: shooting instinctively

I've shot a compound instinctively for years. For me it took a lot of practice. Realize shooting without sights you'll probably be limited to 20-30 yards. Start by shooting very close to a target,...

RE: How close have you been to a wild turkey?

The tom I shot with my bow last year almost touched my blind as he strutted by. I shot him at about 4 yards as he came around the front.

RE: anyone use a ground blind?

I use a Double Bull, got a turkey at 3 yards last spring. I didn't get a shot at a deer out of it, but all the deer I saw paid no attention to it. It's a great tool to have.

RE: Need some tips on getting a turkey with a bow

I use a Double Bull blind, and keep the decoys within 10 yards. There isn't much to shoot at, so the bird should be pretty close.

RE: Fawns and yearlings.

I shoot does. The area I bowhunt gives out antlerless tags, so I feel if the DNR deems the does to be shot, I'll shoot them. They taste great, and some old does are as wary as bucks.

RE: Time to buy a new bow!!!

I wouldn't think you need a 32 inch draw. I'm six five, 210 pounds with a large wing span and I shoot 30 inches just fine. Don't overdraw, you'll develop lots of bad habits.

RE: Favorite 3" shell for geese

If I'm duck hunting too, I use 3 inch 2 shoot. In North Dakota we can get them to decoy well, and get close shots. If I'm just hunting geese, I use T or BB.
