RE: go and get'em or try like hell to call'em back

BBD,

I don't think it is far-fetched at all. I am not lauging either so it is not a joke to me. If someone doesn't give me my dog back, which is the same thing as taking it, then they might as...

Problem is, you aren't thinking about some things. I know you claim to have perfect control over your better bird dogs, but eventually, something could happen where they could end up on the...

RE: go and get'em or try like hell to call'em back

Fellas, there is also a balanced way to look at this situation. It's unrealistic to say if you don't have perfect total control of your dog then the dog deserves to get shot and the hunter deserves...

Hello,

I've not really spent much time in this small game forum. I've been on huntingnet.com a while, though. Thought I'd drop in and say hello and post a pic of my squirrel dog and I after...

RE: dog for doves/squirrel/rabbits/coons/and tracking?

If you want just a plain gamey dog, get a mountain cur. But think about just choosing one game to pursue. If you want to hunt rabbits, get a beagle. If you want to flush birds, forget all the choices...

Thanks Bullet Hole. I am suprised that a lot ofpeople don't understand that hunting dogs are a way of life for many true outdoorsmen that spend far more time in the woods than most people. Like I...

The dog shooting thread is long, but...

I just want to make one short point. If you are on public land and you see a dog that is not with a person, it could be a hunting dog. I hunt with squirrel dogs, and they usually hunt out to about...

Hello,

I think you'd be just as well off whether you choose a cur or a feist. I think they make equally good squirrel dogs, just sometimes different. A few weeks ago I hunted my cur with another...

RE: dog for doves/squirrel/rabbits/coons/and tracking?

If you want a combo squirrel and coon dog, I'd get a cur or a feist. There is a guy who sometimes is on www.sqdog.com whose kemmer/omcba mountain cur gets some time in the dove fields as well and...

RE: how much for a well trained squirrel dog?

For consistency in squirrel dogs, I don't think you can beat curs and feists. But a good, trained squirrel dog is NOT cheap. I think they cost a lot because people often know what a commodity they...

I am not so sure about that. I think this depends hugely on the breed and what you are wanting to hunt.

That brings me to my question for the original poster. What exactly do you want to hunt?...

Even if you cloned a dog, it wouldn't be the same dog in any way except common genetics, which does not mean the dogs would act the same or respond to stimuli in the same way.

RE: How Old is Too Old for Stud?

That's not true. If a dog is not fixed and you own him, you can breed him all you want papers or not. Registries have no authority over dog owners who are not members of the registry. -MIKE
