I use a .243 and love it. I've never had one run more than 60 yards with a majority only going about 20. It's super fast and accurate. Just make sure you have good shot placement, it's a light bullet...

My brother-in-law uses the .270 reduced recoil loads and they work fine. He got a large doe on opening day at about 70 yards. His dad said that it really does reduce the kick.
