download SHOOT ballistic calculator and figure uot the max point blank range.
just punch in your load, barrel length and stuff like that and it'll tell you exactly what you need to know.

if your going to get a nagant, get a finnish m38. they are the most accurate nagants there is. during WW2, Finland didn't produce their own rifles so they accurized the russian ones they captured....
