i would say give winchester a shot, i use the 180 gr. silvertip, not the balistic silvertips. they have worked great for me since i started hunting, knocks them down good, and my gun likes them.

thanks guys, i thought there would be nothing wrong, i like heart too, the moose i got last wekend had the heart a little destroyed from the bullet, but the liver was good.

the last five moose i have shot i have used winchester 180 gr. silvertips, they shoot good in my gun on paper and have worked well in the field, you may want to give them a try and see how they shoot...

wierd, why can you shoot the 2 3/4 in the gun even though it say 3" on the barrel and nothing else listed.

heres an easy one for you guys, (and i should know the answer but i dont) but here it is, i have a 12 ga and on the barrel it states that it takes 3" shells, ok no problem, but where i buy my ammo...

i got a model 70 30-06 sporter xtr and it shoots really good, i am happy with it, my pops has a browning 30-06 and his shoots good, but mine seems better. i think you will be happy with the model 70.

i think at the range you could feel the difference, but when you got the crosshairs on your animal you are about to shoot and the adrenalin is going, you wont feel any difference, they will both feel...

glad to hear it wont hurt anything, i usually use the 3" shells only for grouse hunting, and i figured the 2.5" wouldnt hurt anything when shooting the shells whith the pellets, but i wasnt sure...
