RE: OPINIONS:WBY Vangard

Carpmaster, I would not buy a Weatherby Rifle under any circumstances. Here is a quote from an article entitled "Rifle Lessons Learned from the Zimbabwe Professional Hunter's Exam." Even though you...

RE: Weatherby Mark V Rifles

You could not run fast enough to give me a Weatherby rifle. Here is a quote from an article titled, "Rifle Lessons Learned from the Zimbabwe Professional Hunter's Exam," which can be read on...

RE: remington 597 magnum...17hmr....anygood?

Looks like another big black eye for Remmy. I wonder what in the world is going on over there. I can remember a time when they wouldn't have gone to market with second or third rate junk. Kind of...

RE: Savage 10ML

Scopes, primers, and smokeless powders all go back well into the 1800's. Pyrodex goes back to the 1970's. Triple 7 I think the 1990's. Pyrodex and Triple 7 are more "primitive" than smokeless powder...

RE: .338-06 ?

Neweboarhunter, I have no personal experience with that cartridge, but I saw this on NitroExpress.Com, and thought you might like to read it:

"The .338-06 is simply the .30-06 case necked up....

RE: remington 597 magnum...17hmr....anygood?

That is inexcusable. That would make me want to pull my hair out. I am glad to know this.

RE: 7mm08 or 270

Stew, there is no way I would spend money on a 7mm/08 if I already had a 270 and I were in you situation. Even if I didn't have any rifle at all and I was starting from scratch, I would choose the...

RE: Muzzle break for hunting!

The link that Trailer provided pretty much sums up my thoughts on muzzle brakes.

RE: Sighting "in" at 25yds, Where is it at 100yds?

Nomercy is absolutely right. You cannot sight in at 25 yards, and then be able to say with any certainty whatsoever where it will be at 100. I have had rifles be pretty close at 100 after sighting in...

RE: remington 597 magnum...17hmr....anygood?

Just out of curiosity, if it is the worst piece of junk out there, then it must have a whole bunch of very serious defects, because I have seen some really bad stuff out there. What are all of the...

RE: .243 or 7mm-08?

With all due respect, I must point out that Mr Darby's post is not saying anything in connection with looking for a rifle with less recoil than a 30.06. In fact the words, "recoil," and, "shoulder,"...

RE: Savage 10ML

The close mindedness of that is absolutely astounding. Can they not see that this is where the muzzle loading world is going? And that one day, the ratio of the number of BP muzzleloaders to the...

RE: what is everyones favorite gun of all time hunt whitetail with.

Well, I have taken them with the .223 to 9.3x74R to 45-70, and most everything in between, but I would honestly have to say that my favorite is still the greatest cartridge ever devised by man, the...

RE: 12 guage v. 20 gauge

Peter Capstick wrote the definitive work on this very topic. It first appeared in Sports Afield, and later as a chapter in his fine book, "Death in a Lonely Land." It is titled, "Anything the...

RE: Deer rifle for small girlfriend

6.5x55 may be a little better suited for a long shot on a mulie, and I am worried that anything bigger might kick her too hard and then she might lose interest. She is really little, about like my...

RE: Savage 10ML

Does anybody know if I would be allowed to use smokeless powder in my Savage in New Mexico for muzzleloader deer season? Thanks..
