yea....there is a serious desire to utilize the fish taken after large tourneys somehow. In Wis., fish are given to people who make money trapping rusty crayfish....another exotic in the waters, so...

You eat the meat of the coon you take BT? I have tried it, tastes a bit like lamb, got to get all the fat off. Dont know many who eat them, skins..always. I run my dogs year round, so we dont always...

I agree BT, the native fish, in my opinion, all need to be utilized, and their populations watched for a decline where limits were needed. Heck, if needed, 1 a day is fine with me.
Or protect them...

Thing is....where I am from, few large fish are taken by bow. They dont get into the shallows we fish too often, but if I see one, Im taking it. Its a P&Y carp that Ill be proud of!!

Here in Illinois, there are 2 pole only lakes, and a high percentage of them. 2 poles, no bowfishing. Im fine with that, its highly regulated there. In texas by town lake where the anti bowfishing...

Anyone squirrel hunt using dogs? I just started with a treeing feist this year, a 17 lb. that leans toward a rat terrier. Loads of fun watching this little dog circle a tree when a squirrel is treed!

Might want to try a cur dog. A blackmouth cur, or a mountain cur can hunt just about anything, and are great tree dogs. My blackmouth hunted rabbits, squirrel, hog and coon. Good all around hunters.

Badshot makes a good point........deer herds are culled to lower the population of the herd. They may be eaten, but its not the reason for the culling. They use bowhunters to do it in places too...

I think triploids are a sterile strain of grass carp. They are protected where stocked. In arkansas, theres a lake, guntersville i think, where triploids where grass carp, not sterile, were stocked....

I personally do eat smoked carp and gar are very tasty.
I am involved in starting and running a state bowfishing club, where we push for ethical harvest of fish. I have never seen piles of fish...
