If running the other way doesn't work try the check cord as suggested. Have a partner holding the end of the cord and when the dog hesitates have the partner "drag" the dog to you. Then praise praise...

You guys may be talking about gun vs bow. I drew a bow tag and got an any deer tag and a doe tag. They actually make you buy ($105?) the doe tag when you apply for an any deer permit for bow.
