I use a black plastic garbage bag on my stands and so far they have not touch them and there nice and dry.

I have a summit that about 13yrs old and still looks ok. I just let my friends use it.:D I think it has alot to do with the maker of it. The better built stands can last alot longer tha the cheaper...

buch-magnets right beleave it or not the rayovack batteries are the way to go last longer than duracells and enagizers- the pics turn out great with 400asa color film.
