You have to be carful with 8mm mauser ammunition, which will fit in a 30-06 and chamber fine but the larger bullet will cause extremly high pressures that could have distasterous results.

The 17 HMR will work for yotes but the 22-250 is a much more suitable gun. As for shooting a coyote at 250 yardswith the 17, yes it could be done but its not something to be recommended.

Fornra i was referring to a 70 grain barnes loaded in a 22-250, and i know for a fact that this combination will completly penetrate a deer lengthwise and will stop 3/4 of the way through a moose...

7 shotsout of a 30-30 at a running buck hit him twice, one through the lungs and once through the heart. If i come up on a deer ive shot whom hasent passed on i will definalty make a finishing shot.

You can convert a SKS to use an AK-47 mag it isnt really worth the bother, Some of the duckbill mags work allright... the SKS-D work great, they're common here in Canada and go for about 200 canadian.

techniqualy the M-1 round is not a pistol cartridge as it was designed for the carbine. And at is effective on whitetails out to about 100 yards at the very most, id say 50 yards would be a realistic...

I dont doubt a FMJ 223 round would go through both lungs of a moose or elk but i dont know about the shoulders. I know that a 22-250 loaded with 70 grain barnes bullets will almost penetrate a moose...

No experience with the mossberg but the 243 will work great under 400 yards or so. My personal favorate for bulets is the 100 grain nosler partitions.

First off check and see if its legal to use an M-1 Carbine for deer in your area. Ive used a M-1 carbinea little for deer but its not exactly the best caliber, i found it lacking, but it will work....

take you scope off first and make sure all the screws holding the bases down are tight, put the rings on the bases and make sure the rings are clamped on tightly the mount the scope again and be sure...

You wont find much of a difference recoil wise between the 30-06 and the 7mm ... you will notice the muzzle blast a little more with the 7mmif your shoot from a covered firing point on a range.
