It's very important to field dress as soon as possible. The reason is the heat. You've got to get it out! The heat is what ruins the meat.

I wouldn't bother looking. If you can't find it that night then it will be spoiled by morning especially if it's above freezing. You have to get the heat out or it will go green. Sorry but it happens...
