RE: Do they make .410 turkey shells?

Back when I used a .410 (geez, it's been over a decade...) I had some 3" heavy game loads in #4. I was deadly on paper out to 20 yards, but never got a chance at a bird. I doubt there's a...

RE: Turkey Decoy Shape?

I store mine flat instead of folded. I tried folding the other direction, but I can't remember how well that worked out.

RE: thinking about it

I don't own a semi-auto and am not too familiar with them, so take what I say with a grain of salt. It just seems that you're limiting yourself if it can only shoot 3". JMHO.

RE: New shotgun and barrel length??

That sounds like a good deal on the gun, but you probably wanna look it over well before buying. You never know how someone cared for their gun. I have an old Mossberg and can attest that their good...

RE: New shotgun and barrel length??

Why not use the 20 gauge until you decide that turkey hunting is for you? You can buy a turkey choke for it now and hunt with it this season, before taking the plunge into a turkey-specific...

RE: Situation....

Since it's my second spot, I should have a decent idea of where the turkeys will be. I'd try to beat them to where I think they're headed. Hopefully by the time they show up, I'm already set up and...

RE: right time to take the shot

In my few years of hunting, one thing that I learned (took me long enough too) and has stuck with me is to take the first available shot that you're comfortable with. Too much can happen when you're...

RE: What Qualifies as a Trophy Tom?

Mr. Longbeard,
I got the bird in MD. It was my last semester of undergrad and I had plenty of time to hunt. I loved it. This year the goal is to get birds in both states. We'll see how it works...

RE: What Qualifies as a Trophy Tom?

These birds are hard to hunt. In my opinion, you gotta be proud to harvest any bird. To date, I've gotten one. I hunted that bird hard, by myself, and loved every minute of it. 18lbs, 10" beard,...

RE: 20 Gauge for turkey

RE: re: rust in barrel, 5" groups, now what?

My gun (.50 cal x-150) seems to like 275 grain T/C Maxi hunters with 80 grains of Pyrodex RS. I'd recommend going to loose powder, but I used to use 295 grain Powerbelts with 100 grains (2x50 grain)...

RE: My Lead Sled Purchase; On sale at Midway

I've heard good and bad about the lead sled, but haven't tried one myself. I heard complaints similar to what Sabotloader is concerned about, but moreso with damaging scopes than anything else.
