I'd go with the 30-06 simply for ammo prices/availability. The ballistics between the two are close enough that you won't notice a difference.

It would be cool to be able to hunt in Montana where I was born and raised for "resident" rates. I live in Florida but it would cost me an arm and a leg to go back "home" to hunt. Annoying.

glad I don't have to worry about it here in FL. Here it's either "antlered" or "antlerless". "Antlered" = 5"+ above the hairline. We don't have a "doe" season but instead an "anterless" season.

Here's what I use with my Ameristep blind. Comfy, holds a drink and comes in a bag with a strap. Easy to carry and only weighs 7 lbs.

I picked up a pair of Irish Setter Shadow Trek's a few months ago and they are great. Waterproof and never got a single blister. I walked all over the swamp today in them and my feet feel great.

I have an '08 Nissan Frontier Nismo Crew Cab 4x4 and I love it. 261hp 4.0L V6 and gets 22 mpg highway. Has an electric locker in the rear and 32" BFG Rugged Trail tires from the factory. I love it!

I've got a 270 WSM Tikka T3 Lite and love it. My only beef is the cost of 270 WSM ammo. If I had to do it all over again I would get the same gun but in 30-06.

Don't forget, if you shoot too many shots to quickly your barrel will get hot and your shots will start to stray. My Tikka T3 Lite...
