i hunt close to the mines and at 5:00 every morning a really loud whistle blows when the workers change shifts. that is the only time turkeys will gobble not owl hoots or crows just the whistle.

never hunted in mountains or plains. i hunt in river bottoms and thick woods. if you are hunting with a bow or muzzleloader you should hunt the mountians though because plains call for long shots.
