Not sure what the growths could be, but by looking at your camera date the picture was taken over 2 months ago, which at that time he could have very well still be in velvet.

Gas got down to 2.68 in ohio. The biggest reason this is happening is because of the stock market. Dont be surprised with the rebound of the stock market today to see gas start rising again.
