Lablab might work in east Texas. Where I'm at, we just simply don't get enough rainfall for it to work unless it is a really, really wet summer. And we only have one of those maybe once every five...

Soybeans are not drought tolerant, and not real heat tolerant, either. They don't grow well in most parts of Texas.

Peas (black-eyed, purple hull, iron and clay, and the like) are not a bad...
