The issue I believe they are refering to isn' t that they are too lazy to track a deer 50 yards, it' s that if a deer runs 50 yards there is a chance another hunter will shoot the deer again and...

I' ve only shot one deer in the neck. Dropped him in his tracks and he was dead as a hammer.

Normally I aim for the shoulder.
