The Barnes Manual show 2786 fps with the Barnes 180 XFB Coated bullet with H380 and 2782 with AA2700 with the same coated X bullet.

The Federal Blue Box 150 grain cartridges loaded with the Speer grand Slam adversised 2910 fps and in my 7600, the chronographed right on the money. So there is at least one example.

If you reload for both, the 30-06 will provide 150-200 fps more velocity than the 308. To me in the field, the difference is not important but for the sake of pure numbers, the 30-06 has a bit more...

The 30-06 will shoot the 180 grain bullet about 150 fps faster than the 308. With that bullet, the 308 has 173. lbs of recoil where the 30-06 has 20.3 lbs of recoil. With bullets of up to 165 grains,...
