i hunt swamps or swamp edges almost exlusively, one reason is that it is a pretty dominant trait where i hunt in NE PA. we have fields and open woods and some thickets also, but i love the big swamp...

i shot many deer in the neck, and many in in the vitals. i never shoot the shoulders. i shoot just behind the front shoulder if the deer is broadside, shooting through the shoulders just wastes meat...
