6 months is definitely too young. Yes one can have a pup this age and younger out in the field with some very promising action but the dog is immature and it is for this very reason that bad habits...

Do not, at all costs, attempt to introduce the pup to game. From now up until the age of 8-9 months, at least, it should all be centred around obedience training. Coupled of course with lots of fun...
