I live in washington state and have shot 5 bears here. I just got back from hunting in Ft. Mcmurray, AB. Fantatstic time and the bears are WAY better than down here. Came home with a 340lb. 6.5 ft....

Bear Hunting is addictive . I have the opportunity here in Spokane to hunt ANY North American game. My choice: Bears. The bigger the better. WhY?

The outfitter in Alberta hasn't had ANY problems with mechanicals. Alot of states do not allow the use of mechanicals which is why i am using them in Canada.

You are right about that. Plus...the bears in the south east portion get "rubbed" more...why? i don't know. But, the black bears that I have seen from S.E. Alaska are badly rubbed up.

The reason why i put 10,000.00 out there is because I have seen several outfitters advertising brown bear hunts at this price. i do appreciatte the positive feedback. i realize that there are guys...

REDMAG...why would've the bears been lost if using a fixed blade? you never explained. Also, how big were the bears. i know that big boars have been shot with both. Just wondering how other guys felt...

I think its a pretty even toss up with hunters who shoot bears regularly. the one thing that i have heard about mechanicals is that you MUST have a broadside shot to avoid haging up the braodhead on...

i had one...gave it away a few years back. The most accurate and smoothest bow i ever owned..(now own a Tribute). The problem with these bows was the weight...mine was over 6 Ibs.

Thanks for the response from someone who has at least thought about the affects of it. i am going on a spring hunt in Alberta...N. of ft. MCcmurray on the Saskatchewan border. LOTS of big bears...

RMA...The Outfitter is the one the absolutely recommends these things...have shot 5 bears here in Washington state and never even used one. I would assume that the Outfitter who is VERY reputable...

There is no question that you didnt get a lung shot. If you had gotten a lung shot there would have been blood somewhere. bears can live on one lung...it is VITAL to double lung them. Also, contrasry...

Going on a guided hunt next spring in Alberta for bear. In the last year or 2, nobody has been shooting monster bear in their area...I have been wondering of late if they have over hunted their area....
