It's pretty good hunting in that area. Bigger bucks to the north and west, but that area holds more big deer than most areas of the country. Check out the Big Hill area for good public land hunting.

think about some snake boots, instead. they're quieter and ALOT more comfortable. They are tons lighter weight than any rubber boots, too. downside is cost.

had one for about 8 years. he was pretty easy to housebreak and train. he did not like strangers and kids made him nervous. he never bit anyone, but he would growl and show his teeth plenty.

west siberian laika would tree coons and squirrels and chase rabbits. they have been trained for birds, but this is not one of their natural abilities.

fiest/ cur-type dog would be my 2nd choice.

But with the Hevi's, IF they pattern in your gun, you can stretch that 45 to 60. If you don't want more range, keep shooting the other stuff. Some people really do like to watch the birds a little...
