Opinion on hog calls

Primos has 2 types of hog calls, a squealer and a grunter. Are these effective? I've called out 3 piglets before by squealing but I've never seen anything bigger walk up.

RE: stand or stalk pigs??

Lately stalking hasn't worked as well. I think most of that is due to all the fallen leaves. It's hard to sneak up on them anyway and then when you add in all the dry leaves...

Stand hunting...

RE: Hog trapping

Check out www.texasboars.com. They have an awesome forum dedicated just to trapping. I've been doing some research as I plan on doing my own trapping this year using corn.

RE: 1st Hog - Didnt know we had any!

Looks like the perfect size for some good eatin'. Congrats!

I routinely see boars walking alone. The sows (with litter in tow) seem to move slower and will often hang in one spot for a long time...

RE: 000 buck or slug first?

When I've walked up on them I've always had time to pause, let them continue rooting or whatever their doing, and then aim and shoot. I've killed 2 or 3 hogs this way using copper solids at about 25...

RE: Show your Pics!!!!!!!!

Here is a pic of a small hog (62 lb)I shot tonight. There has been a lot of doe activity in this spot over the last month and I passed up a chance to shoot a doe a week ago (too dark to avoid hitting...

RE: Newbie, Got Pork?

The best thing I have found to consistently draw them in is to spreaddrink mix (like Kool Aid)(in the large containers for $2) on the ground and cover with corn. I've done that in locations before...

RE: Show your Pics!!!!!!!!

My first hog which was the first anything I have killed was this 70 lb boar at 40 yards using a single shot H&R 12 guage. The bullet must have hit him in the spine because he dropped on the spot....

RE: Deer keep smelling me and leaving

Ok, here is what I did and the results I have seen.

I also needed snake boots (have seen 8 so far this year, two were pit vipers) so I bought some Irish Setter snake boots which have scent-lok....

RE: everglades boar

Nice shot!

I'm already working on the wife to convince her that taking my 4 year old son with me would be a good idea. So far, no luck... She was pretty upset the last time he just went scouting...

RE: Big Boars & Buckshot (starting this weekend)

I shot a 125 lb sow last night. The first shot, a slug, glanced off her skull (not the best shot) and only wounded her. The next 3 shots were 2 3/4" no. 1 buckshot.

The last two were at point...

Killed two hogs with one shot...

I've been trying to get this one sow for over a month. She has consistently smelled me and alerted the other hogs. Twice she has prevented me from getting a shot. She is by far the oldest sow of the...

RE: Need info on treestand

My favorite is tree lounge. In my opinion it's the most comfortable and the safest on the market.

Only disadvantage is it's so comfortable you'll probably find it difficult to stay awake and...

RE: Poison Ivy

I have had problems with poison ivy my entire life. I haven't found anything that works besides the shots (corisone maybe?) that I can get at the doctor's office.

Until last turkey season when I...

RE: Deer keep smelling me and leaving

Nope (to the boots question). I've been wearing leather boots that I've had for 10 years. I never use them for anything else and I keep them covered in mud and scent killer. If I'm not...

RE: Deer keep smelling me and leaving

Early, no there's no one else for at least 2 miles or so across some nasty marsh type stuff.

Ky, that's probably it. I've been hunting this area now for about 2 solid weeks. So what do I do now?...

RE: Deer keep smelling me and leaving

I'm gun/truck poor and I hunt in SC where the temps are still in the eighties. I sweat like mad just wearing a short sleeve shirt and hat. However, I may still buy some but it will definitely be...

RE: September Youth/Mosquitos

If I had to choose between thermacell and my gun, I'd give up the gun first. Thermacell will get rid of 20 mosquitoes from off my clothes in about 30 minutes when I finally stop moving and it's...

Deer keep smelling me and leaving

I've been busted the last 3 times I've been in my treestand. It's good that I'm actually having deer come close but I still haven't actually seen them.

I wash my clothes in sports wash with...
