RE: Overhunting stands

True HNI Jim, but I don't think you have to be seeing deer to overhunt a stand. Atleast IMO.

RE: Overhunting stands

I do think part of it was a change in the deer's overall pattern StrutNTom. However, we started noticing our numbers of deer seen on stand dwindling before the food source they were concentrated on...

RE: Finally, yes yes yes!!!!!!!

Ouch!

A friend of mine just had one jump his string on 38 yard shot and the arrow struck her in the hind quarters. One would think this wouldn't be a fatal hit, but let me tell you. It was as if...

RE: Overhunting stands

I learned last year how easy it is to overhunt stands. My brother and I really hunted our favorite stand hard and by the middle of the season we had ruined the spot. We went from one night early in...

RE: Rage broadhead tip.......

Nice. I am seriously considering trying them just because of some of the damage I've seen them do.

RE: Rage broadhead tip.......

Those broadheads are all the rage ( no pun intended ) around here in NJ. No one has'em. The 2 blade types are virtually impossible to come by.

How do they work? A band holds the blades closed...

RE: Acceptable Paper Tuning

TFox,

Your method would be to shoot a single arrow at intervals of 10 yards starting at 20 yards and extending out to 50 or so yards. Your final results should yield arrows following in a...

RE: Acceptable Paper Tuning

TFox,

After reading that thread, you are saying my best possible tune would come from:

1. Paper tune bare shafted arrows
2. Paper tune fletched arrow checking for clearance
3. Walk...

Acceptable Paper Tuning

Hey guys,

I have my Mathews Drenalin paper tuned pretty well. However, I still have a slight ( .5 in? ) left tear. Now I read in the tuning guide I was using that many mechanical release...

RE: Deer cannot see orange.

Deer will spook from footprints from days before or even in areas that you may have brushed up against a tree or brush. I always try to wait for a rain to make any significant changes or even spend a...

RE: Damn, I don't think I have any luck in NJ.

Deer hunting public/state land in New Jersey is a tough proposition, I hunt public land in Gloucester County.

RE: Deer cannot see orange.

Deer will spook on movement orscent alone. I wouldn't put too much faith in what does and fawns do, I've had does and fawns watch me move to look at another deer further in the woods or off in the...

RE: N.J. COYOTES !

I've seen one so far this year but they don't seem to affect the deer movement. Not yet atleast. I hunt zone 25.

RE: Does Everyone Know about the "Inner Tenderloins"?

RE: Hunting from the ground

Def. works and you can gain an advantage by hunting from the ground because you can play the wind perfectly and adjust your setup. You do have to be extra careful about movement and scent, but it is...

RE: Deer keep smelling me and leaving

I have a stand that is just perfect. A funnel between two bedding areas about 100 yards in the woods from a soy bean field that the deer feed in. The funnel leads to thick standing hardwoods and...

RE: Screw in Steps vs. Climbing sticks?

I've only used the steps and do so because I'm either hunting public land that allows them or private land that I can keep a stand up as long as I want. The steps are nice and solid if put in correct...
