How long....

Can a deer hang before it goes "bad"? I had a buddy ask me this... because he has been hanging a deer for about 2 weeks now. The temps are hovering around 10-15 degrees during the day with lows...

i agree with the others that said to practice...

i agree with the others that said to practice from a tree stand. you'll find that your point of impact is much different than on flat ground. when it comes to the shot... pick a single hair halfway...

i've used the earth scented ones quite a bit... and have had a deer once or twice directly downwind and not notice anything. that being said, theres no substitute for keeping the wind in your favor...

i did it for years without a dog, and sometimes i'd get lucky and get a few. i bought a lab a few years ago, and trained it and now i see probably 10 times as many birds.

i've had a 500 for years... i've had it wet, muddy, frozen... it still works as good as the day i got it. its not a really pretty gun, but it does its job, and does it well. 200 bucks is a pretty...

i've had velcro on releases and camo before, and i can tell you never again. its way too noisy. besides, a buckle will last longer than worn out velcro, and buttons make more sense on camo anyways.

i had the same thing happen to me, except for it was a red tailed hawk. its wing tipliterally brushed my face as it flew by! pretty neat stuff!
