That's because 18-22 feet only equals 6-7 yards, when taken relative to the 20-40 yard shot (hypotenuse) that's nothing (meaning that your shot angle "theta" is minimal). The shot angle doesn't...

This is planning season for next year's hunts. It takes a lot of research and logistics to make a hunt up here come off without a hitch. (but I'm punching foam too, that's part of the prep.);)

What the rangefinder is giving you in your example is the hypotenuse so your knowns are (A) and (C). What you want to know is the base (B) which is the distance that gravity is working on your arrow....

It's worth it out here in the mountains but if you're in a treestand you're not high enough above your target to make a real difference.

You can hunt them off the road from Fairbanks on the Dalton Hwy. or fly in for them out of Anchorage, Fairbanks or lots of places in between. 50/50 split on that one depending on which mountain range...

Moose and caribou, unguided, float hunts, success on every trip for at least one of us on moose hunts (who needs to shoot 3 moose?) and 100% on caribou as well. Haven't gotten anything up there yet...

Have you checked your eye dominance to see if you're shooting with the correct eye? If you're shooting out of your non-dominant eye you'll have to close your dominant one.

Are you going to hunt with them as well or are they strictly 3D shafts? If you're just going to target shoot with them you might look at the Easton LiteSpeeds but I wouldn't hunt with them.

Both open. With one eye closed you lose depth perception and ability to estimate yardage. You also loose field of view as txj and mfd pointed out.
