There is a breeding program exactly! The dogs have to be tested and proven beofre they can be bred, PERIOD! Waterfowl work plays a major part as well.

There is a HUGE difference between the Trial bred shorthairs and the original breed, called Deutsch Kurzhaars, DK's.

They have to be proven as VERSATILE before they can be bred in...

I disagree totally!

Our dogs are upland and waterfowl dogs as well. THe older finshed dogs will track onlead or off, and will not run unwounded deer!

Some will alert the handler...

The DD as well as the DK, our breed of choice, are the true DO ALL dogs. You will have a good time with it!
