RE: Should I be happy or aggravated?

Thanks for all the replies! Looks like ya'll have another hog hunter on the board. It'll be a good way to get back into bowhunting, which I'm doing this year, anyways. Hopefully I'll be looking for...

Should I be happy or aggravated?

Been hunting on a relatively small lease in NE Oklahoma for the last two deer seasons. Just saw turkeys for the first time on the lease about two weeks ago, and got really excited. Then went back...

Great news! Now I can order another barrel for my old M37 instead of cutting on the original.

RE: Indiana canned hunts

It isn't a "canned hunt", it's called going SHOPPING. If some people like to do that instead of hunting as we define it, that's their prerogative, in my opinion. Personally, I'm disgusted by it. But...

I agree with Red. Haven't posted on the subject before, because it seemed like everyone forgot about the original "transgression" and focused on how well they could display their shock and disgust...

RE: 22 Rifle

I agree that the 10-22 is probably your friend's best bet. My personal favorite, though, is the Browning lever action. Great shooting gun with a classic look.

RE: Did anyone catch RealTree Outdoors tonight??

As long as the focus of this argument is the gender of the hunter involved, this is a complete waste of time! What would the responses be if it were some GUY? Everyone would be tearing him a new one,...

Looking into buying the Savage American Classic, probably in .308. Anybody know much about this rifle? Heard nothing but good about the trigger, and want something with a detachable magazine. Doesn't...

My dad's wanting one just as a muzzleloader. Any opinions? Right now he shoots a CVA Optima. Is the NEF a better choice?

Shot my first duck (mallard) not too long ago. After years of not giving it any thought, I now understand how addictive duck hunting could be. Anyhow, got to cleaning the duck, and the entire breast...

I've heard about this comeback for about 10 years now, but have seen no evidence of it. I'll just keep hoping and grabbing up shells whenever I stumble across them.

RE: .243 for deer

I agree. Good shot placement doesn't change with caliber. With today's bullet technology, either the .223 or the .243 are more than capable for whitetail. Don't get me wrong, all I'll ever hunt...

RE: 223 cal for Deer

.223 is plenty for whitetail. Put the shot in the right place, instead of depending on the sheer size of the bullet to compensate for marginal shot placement.

Saw that, and it was the most amazing deer video I've ever seen. Kind of redefines the term "dominant buck". Reminded me of a couple of jakes beating the tar out of a tom I'd just shot.

Well, mine is a .308, so this is a little off-topic. The accuracy of my BLR is quite good, and it's the only gun I'll deer hunt with.

RE: .223 for 8 yr. old for deer?

The .223 is plenty of gun to take a whitetail with. I wouldn't recommend taking shots past about 150 yds, but that's mainly due to the age of your daughter. You'll be right there, so shot selection...
