RE: 30-30 scope

first off, great gun choice! Brush gun perfection. I have shot over a dozen deer with mine, all DRT and perfect bullet destruction. Scope: go for durability, buy good steel rings (you'll need to...

Scope selection

I have quickly learned that the rings and scope that come packaged with the sale of the rifle may not be of the highest caliber. I've recently purchased a Savage .270 (which I love) for whitetail....

Remington 7400 in .270

I've wanted a .270 for some time now. I have the 742 in the 30-.06, and it is OK, and I understand that all the eventual wear-down problems were resolved when the 7400 was introduced. I've come into...

RE: mossberg 100atr

I picked up the ATR in the .243, scope included for about $350, tax and all. I compared it with Stevens, Remington, and Savage. Remington in the 700 is a great rifle, regardless of what caliber....

RE: Which caliber for me?

Not real sure where 220 came from (should have said 200), but the orginal question was surrounding a 200 range hunt for "erope"...and a 270 or a 30 30 would be fine for what he is wanting to do...

RE: Which caliber for me?

270 is an excellent choice below 220 yds. I have a 30-06, and don't get me wrong, it is a great rifle and versitile (in case you want to hunt larger than white tail). For the most part, a 270 is an...

RE: how far can i sight my 30-30 in effectively

The question to ask yourself is "what is the longest distance I plan on taking a shot from where I'll be hunting?" For those of us thathunt in the mountains of NC, it is pretty rare we can find a...

RE: new to hunting, need rifle advice

I have been hunting for 15 years now, and I live for rifle season. If you are hunting whitetail and shooting under 200 yards, look at the 30/30, 45 and the 30-06. I love the 7mm cartridge, though....

Remington 742 Woodsmaster

Having wonderful accuracy with my grandfather's old M-19, I really grew to like the 30-06 caliber, but didn't care for the weight of the M-19. Now, several years later, and without review before...
