Here is the follow-up I promised:
Used the 2 in 1 Bore Scrubber to clean out the excess Bore Butter - took about an hour and 20 patches to get the stuff out.

Once cleaned, the gun loaded...

I believe it is Thompson Center #13 Bore Cleaner. Also, would this account for the rust colored residue that I find in my barrel after it has been cleaned and then let sit for a day?

I measured the bore with a set of calipers (not an expensive set mind you) and it is close to .501, which is the initial source of my concerns.

How does one easily determine what the barrel inside diameter is other than using tools. Are these figures printed somewhere? How about bullet diameters?
