I would recommend Kent Fasteel shells probably no smaller than a #3 or 4 and as for the choke go with a modified or full choke for sure. Good luck with the hunt.

I've heard of people shooting a cap gun before they feed there pup, then the dog realizes that loud noises mean good things are comming. Give that a try and see if it helps.

I'd have to say go with the 870. I own the exact 870 your describing and it works great on ducks, gease and i also use it on grouse. Plus they have been around forever and are extremely reliable....

I got a wierd one here. I've been training my lab for waterfowl hunting for almost 10 months now. He's does single, double and blind retrieves no problem, is steady when shooting until i release him...

I've lived here all my life and hunted waterfowl for years now. I dont know about the rest of canada but I know personally that new Brunswick has many great places to hunt ducks and geese.

If your debating on buying a 3" vs a 3.5" magizine i would recomment getting the 3.5". Then if you still want to shoot the 3" sheels you can but if you want to go after geese or something late season...

I hunt flooded fields and water. I prefer the water and river systems leading in and out of main marshes especially in the early season. Nothing beats hearing therumble of a bunch of 12 guages...

I don't have any access to live birds but i have a few from last duck season i keep in the freezer. He isfine in the field i didnt stop training him during the whole winter so he never had a chance...
