RE: Temperature Ranges?

When in Idaho, I shot daily in temps ranging from sub freezing to below zero with no problems. I warmed the wood up by giving it a few shortened tugs before bringing it to full draw. Don't know if...

RE: Any more tips for silencing my Hunter II

I went to the woolie whispers or whatever they are called and they were a marked improvement over the beaver, which I ended up putting on my Don Brown longbow. When I went to heavier arrows, that...

RE: Introduction

Welcome Chris.

I shoot a Chek-Mate Hunter II that's 51@28" and I shoot 29" Easton 2016s with a 125g head attached. The spine figures out to be 55/60# and they shoot extremely well from the bow....

RE: After 50 kills and 38 yrs. - I quit!

Sorry to hear that longbowman. I've had to stop shooting because of illness and lack of confidence and I hated it.

If you think it's salvageable, like Arthur suggested, try some different...

RE: I need help???

I second the Chek-Mate recommendation and the suggested dealer is great to do business with. Makes an awesome string too.

We have a Chek-mate Hunter II takedown recurve and a Crusader takedown...

RE: Raining & Hunting

I don't mind hunting in the rain, as long as it's lite to moderate. Heavy rain finds me snug at home with a cupper and a good movie or book.

I usually carry a mil issue poncho, cup, fire, esbit...

Congratulations and good shooting. That is a heck of a shot on a wabbit. Like Chad, I find myself more inclined to take longer shots on small game than I am large game critters and I agree that...

RE: Question for Traditional Hunters

Yep, I missed a nice Mule Deer buck. I was standing on a rock formation looking down onto a small trail where I'd spotted some good sized buck tracks when scouting the area. That didn't mean he'd...

RE: Strickly Traditional

I must be a klutz, because I tried shooting both the compound and recurve and it just didn't work for me. I had to get rid of the wheels before I could realize much improvment with the curve.

RE: If I shoot 60# compound, what about recurve?

I agree with both previous posts. Start with a lite weight bow that you can easily draw and hold, without discomfort. The fewer #s you pull, the easier it's going to be for you to get a consistent...

Yeah, easiest way to get around tearing up your tabs is to go with a dental floss hand tied nockset. I went to using a Cordovan tab, which is just as slick as any hair on tab and is much tougher.

RE: Used Black Widow or a Hunter II?

RE: How Do You Define " Cast" ?

California is still using cast/distance an arrow travels to determine what' s legal and what isn' t. I don' t remember exactly, but believe the minimum is 130 or 150 yards with a legal hunting arrow.
