RE: useing self loaded ammo for self defense

All of my handloads are "reduced power target ammo";)

Why are the bullets hollowpoints?

They were on sale.

RE: .223 enough for deer?

There are better options, but I could see using one if I had no other choice.

I guess that's a whole new can of worms ethics question. You only have a .223 and can't afford another rifle. Don't...

Odd Question: Has anyone here samples woodchuck meat?

You would think that since all they really eat are greens, they wouldn't be too bad as table fare. I could be totally wrong, though.

RE: marlin 44 mag question

If you handload, you can load .44 mags down to a .44 spcl level. You may also be able to find some factory .44 mags that are loaded down a bit. When I had a .44 mag carbine, I found American Eagle...

That's really cool. ARs seem to have a reputation as a military rifle, but it would seem that with all the options available, they're a versatile hunting rifle as well.

I don't know much about them, but the Alexander Arms .50 Beowulf looks really cool. Is changing calibers with an AR as simple as changing uppers? Could I have a .223 upper for target shooting and a...

This is kind of a dumb question, but I'll ask anyway. If the wind is in your favor and you're quiet, is it coloration that can give you away, or is it the human silouhette? If it's simply a matter of...

RE: How close can a Marlin 1895 be loaded compared to a Ruger #1?

I'm of the opinion that you really don't need to hotrod the 45/70 if all you're going after is deer. A .45 cal, 300 to 405 grainslug travelling at 1300 to 1700 fps is going to leave a big hole and...

RE: 7.62X39 VS. 243 WIN. FOR DEER

Well, the 7.62x39 is really cheap to shoot (assuming that NEF will fire Wolf ammo) and the recoil isn't quite as sharp as a .243. This means that a kid could practice more without recoil fatigue....

RE: Marlin 1894 .44 from Big 5?

I got a wally world 1894 in .357. I love it and use it more than anything else. The only problem is that it refuses to feed SWC ammo. Not a huge deal for me since I prefer jacketed ammo.

If a gun ban is enacted in the USA, it is then time to rebel, even if that means giving up our lives. The constitution is only meaningful if people are willing to die to defend it.
