RE: my land

If you have plent of does, then the bucks are there too. They just have no reason to move. Thin the does out and the bucks will have to start to move more during the rut to find a mate.

RE: BPS, 870, Nova...which to choose???

BPS hands down. The only thing that I would compare mine to is the old WingMasters.

And go with a 24'' or 26'' barrel. The only thing the 30'' will do is be harder to get around in the woods and...

RE: Screw in Steps vs. Climbing sticks?

I like the sticks. They are more expensive, but they take a lot less work. And here in the South, most of our land belongs to timber companies who don't want you screwing anything into their trees.

RE: Trading 22-250 for a deer cartridge???

A also agree.

Either of the calibers you listed would do. Personally, the .270, .308, and 25/06 would be my choices.

The .308 is a awesome deer round, but the 165gr + bullets could be a...

Be careful with that baking soda. Baking soda doesn't eliminate odors it absorbs them. So, make sure you rinse your clothes well when you wash them in it.

RE: Caliber for son's first deer rifle?

As stated the 25-06' is a great caliber and is very under rated.
My first rifle was a .270win. One of the best calibers ever made.

I would suggest a .308win or a .270win.

Both are great...

There's nothing bad about your choice and yes it will get the job done as long as the shooter gets his job done. So, practice.
