Where to hunt?

I am hunting in a field about a 100 yards away from a wild life area with my 223 with no luck. I am going out in the morning and I am wondering if I should take my shotgun instead and go directly...

well first off i was shooting it yesterday somemore and i just concentrated on my release and form and they flew better and before i knew it i was getting groups in a paper plate from 20 yards away...
