RE: WHAT IS HAPPENING TO REMINGTON?

That is total B.S. Walmart orders their guns from the same wholesaler that your local gun store, or Academy, or any other retailer orders them from. They are not specially made for Walmart...that is...

RE: SAKO FINNBEAR L-61

I have an L-61 Finnbear from about 1967 in .270. It's an EXCELLENT rifle. Very accurate with factory ammo and a super-slick action. Mine is topped with a Leupold M-8 in 6X. I agree with the comment...

RE: gun sighting in

The late Jack O'Connor, gunwriter and hunter, always recommended an initial sighting in at 25 yds, but he emphasized that you should re-check your zero at 100 yds to verify that you are on target....

RE: Who makes a better gun

I had an older Ruger M-77 in .30-06. The trigger was terrible and the accuracy suffered. I sold it. I now have 2 Remington 700 BDL's that required about 15 minutes each to adjust the triggers to...

RE: .308 or 30-06

The .308 has somewhat less recoil than the .30-06 in a given bullet weight. That might be something to consider in a light lever action rifle. My choice would be the .308.

RE: Tikka t3 price

That's a GREAT price. Around North Texas the T-3 Lite in .223 or.243 runs about $525 in the blued version, and about$625-$650 in the stainless version.

RE: Managed recoil

I have used them in 3 .270's. In a Remington 700 BDL and a Winchester Model 70 FW they group about 1" lower than 130 gr. Remington Express PSP's at 100 yds. In my Sako they group about the same. ...

RE: Highest Quality Scope for About $250

My vote would be for the Leupold VX-1...either the 2-7x33m or the 2-9x40mm. Take the extra $50-70 you have left over and buy a nice dinner and some more ammo.;)
