Questions on Savage Model 11

Well, I am new to bolt action rifles, and started out with a used one. I saw it at a Gander Mountain on the used gun rack, and it just seemed to call to me. It's chambered in .223 Remington, with...

RE: why haven't they asked?

How about some good actions and barrels chambered for the 6.5 Grendal? Looks like a great up and comming cartradge for the AR boys, and I think it could be aplied to bolt action rifles.

RE: Bipod

Though I've never hunted them, I seem to agree with Vapodog. It just doesn't sound like a bipod kind of hunt to me.

RE: Used .223 bolt action

Well, it turns out to be a Savage model 11 topped with a Bushnell Banner 4-12 power. It was in very good condition with only a few dings in the stock. No AccuTrigger, so I assume it's an older year...

I'm sick today, so I might not be heading out to Gander. But if I do, or my dad, I'll make sure to get the info. Thanks.

Used .223 bolt action

Well, I was at Gander the other day and saw a fairly nice used .223 bolt with scope for something like $450. I didn't get a chance to see what brand name or whatnot, but I've been wanting one like it...

RE: 9mm or 40sw for daughter

I highly recomend the Springfield XD in 9mm, the 4 inch model. I have one, it's not a heavy clunker, easy recoil, the ergonomics naturally point the gun at the right spot. Please, please look into...

RE: sighting system for pistol caliber carbine.....

Agreed, and you could go out to longer ranges with the .223 Rem. But, since I already have 9MM guns but not .223, it makes soem sense. And also I can fire it at pistol-only ranges, which there seem...

RE: Ignorance was bliss at the Wal-Mart last night...

I use Gander Mountain, They tend to have people who know what they are doing and reasonable prices. I got my Springfield XD at $100 below list there, so I'm happy.

RE: Any 10mm fans?

Springfields 1911's are second only to Kimber, and not but much at that. If you want something to plink, get something in .45,.40 or 9mm. Anything else and it will get pricey.

If you're...

Okay, so reloading 9mm might not pay. What about other common cals, like .45 ACP or .40 S&W?

I have an old Mauser in what I think is .32 ACP, reload that?

9mm questions

Well I have been pricing and stuff, and came up with a few questions.

1) How much powder for 1000 rds.? 8lbs would do around how many rounds?

2) Wolf ammo is about $100.00 for 1000 rds...

RE: S&W 6906 jam

Try cleaning everything in the bottom half well, and if you can, clean the mag(s). If that doesn't fix it, you probably need to "persuade" your mags to work, if you don't know how and no one else can...

9mm MP5 on a tactical sling with full automatic mode..... Haha, kidding of course.

Basically you have to chose what you can. .44 if you can shoot it well, .357 otherwise.
