RE: Handload vs. Factury load.

dkhamner,
I don't wish to bore you, but since you obviously don't handload, you seem stuck between your friends load and factory ammo. I'd suggest you stay with factory ammo, as it is more than...

RE: Which Pistol To Choose?

Prarie_Boy1,
To begin with I don't consider the 9mm as a home defense weapon, or even a personal defense firearm/cartridge! From my POV, it is more along the lines of a 30-cal or even a 25-cal...

RE: Weatherby Vanguard 7mm Rem mag load confusion

rh455,
A cheap shot would be to buy another gun. But the better approach might be to look thru various reloading manuals to find a preferred powder with your bullet weight of choice and go from...

RE: ? for Reducing charges for lower recoil in 45 acp

HighDesertWolf ,
No, Unique is not a slow burning powder compared to Blue Dot or 2400!
But 2400 is not a recommended powder for the cartridge you mentioned!
And while Blue Dot is, that does NOT...

RE: U.S. Vs. Foreign Gunmakers

This is a funny thread. Maybe I think that 'cause I'm not a great shotgun enthusiast, but I do like my shotguns. I agree with most of the comments pro & con regarding Remington and Benelli. But it...

RE: 280 vs 7mm-08

kraftworks3,
My 7-08 shoots the same heavier bullets about 100 fps less than my .280 Rem. And I've yet to see any animal respond differently with a well placed shot and a quality bullet, because...

RE: 7x57 w/ 140 gr Nosler Partitons

Portage,
With a muzzle velocity of 2660 fps, that sounds like a fairly mild loading.
But since the other folks chimed in with their success stories, I guess its
fast enough to get the job done....

RE: What do you guys think of Rugers 7mm-08?

Jayon,
The 7mm-08 will do just fine out to 300-yds or so, with just about any bullet weight (which is just about the limit most shooters can hit a target). Combined with 140-150/gr Barnes...

RE: 325 wsm, is winchester on crack?

I don't particularly have any problems with the short mag craze, just the advertising folks hyping them. And IMHO, the best of the lot are .223,
.243 & 257. The 7mm and 300 are non-performers in...

RE: Which Gun

That was a tough question. I like all my guns!
But I'd have to keep my Win M70, PAC-NOR barreled, .280 Rem

RE: Which 280 Rem. ammo to use ???

The .280 Rem is a great cartridge. Given your situation, my preference would be Remington's "ultra" corelokt 165-gr; Trophy Bonded Bear Claw 160-gr, or Winchester's Failsafe 140-gr. Not necessarily...

RE: ? for Reducing charges for lower recoil in 45 acp

Unique is a slow burning powder and it is always unwise to reduce loads below minimum recommendations with slow burning powders. Change to WW231(5.6-gr). That should provide
you with less recoil...

RE: Who makes good reloadable 7.62x54R Brass?

I'd recommend Lapua cases. They are less expensive than Norma, and are superior to anything produced domesticly.

RE: Anyone ever compare pressure and velocity

The TSX bullet produces less pressure with the same powder charge simply because there is less bearing surface with the TSX bullet vs the standard X-bullet. Barnes places in each box of TSX bullets,...

RE: reloading .270

Hacimsaalk,
You will undoubtedly receive a lot of advice about equipment, dies, etc.
You can't go wrong with an RCBS Rockchuker press. If money is an issue, look around you can probably find one...

RE: What is your favorite powder & primers ?

My preference for powder is primarily determine what shoots best in the cartridge/rifle/pistol I shoot. Rifles powders, I'm partial to Hodgdon because they are not sensitive to temperature, but if...

RE: 130gr. Barnes for the 30-06

Jeff,
The 1:12" twist should stabilize up to 168-gr conventional bullet in your '06. And while the 130-gr X-bullet will perform at 400 yds, wind drift is still an issue regardless of mfr's bullet....

RE: Barnes Triple Shock

I've been using the X-bullet since the late 1980s and they are great! Since I've swithched to the X-bullet I've never experienced bullet failure again. Barnes X-bullets generally produce deeper...
